The North End neighborhood in Boston is home to many restaurants with Italian foods and romantic settings. Unfortunately, social distancing regulations leave restaurant owners with no choice but to spread out their tables. It has been hard for restaurant owners, but they adapted and found new ways to get customers into their establishments.
Key takeaways:
- Carla Gomez, the owner of Terramia Restorante, has embraced the outdoor dining initiative. However, although outdoor dining is very beneficial, the trend comes at a high price. “You wanna make a good presentation, you know, for people to come sit outside and enjoy,” says Carla.
- The owner of Baramor, Arpit Pitel, chose to think outside the box regarding outdoor dining. Due to the underwhelming number of outdoor tables, Arpit decided that picnicking would be a growing trend. As a result, the restaurant sold picnic baskets with cheese boards, wraps, beverages, and blankets.
- Patricia Sujballi, the owner of Epic Gourmet Boston, turned to personal chef service after the pandemic stopped catering events. “I decided that okay, maybe personal in-home dining for people would be better because it’s a smaller group,” says Patricia.
